Looking for fun activities in the laid-back Hong Kong? Let’s talk about the exciting bike-sharing brand, loco bike. It’s unfortunate that their models are not electric bikes due to current regulations in Hong Kong. However, the city is making progress in implementing e-bike trials in areas like the Science Park in Sha Tin. However, regardless of the bike type, your health matters the most. So, when visiting Hong Kong, let’s support local brands!

How to register

To support on a loco bike, please simply download their mobile app over the Google/Apple market. Register as a member using your phone number. Pay a membership fee of HK$200 for one year through Alipay, PayMe, or credit card. Then you’ll be ready to start pedaling!

One of the great advantages is the flexible pricing: it’s just HK$4 for every half an hour. If you wish to reserve a specific bike and ensure it’s available, you can pay an extra fee. Once you’ve reached your destination within 30 minutes, don’t forget to end your ride.

Limited areas for service only

It’s important to note that loco bike services are currently limited to certain areas. These areas include Tsuen Wan, Tuen Mun, Sheung Shui, Tai Po, Sha Tin, and Tai Wai. Unfortunately, they don’t cover Hong Kong Island for now. Also, keep in mind that the HK$200 deposit is non-refundable, so make sure to utilize it before the expiry date.

Highly recommended places for cycling:

Sam Mun Tsai Waterfront Cycling Trail in Tai Po, with facilities overlooking Plover Cove Typhoon Shelter. The cycling trail is a branch trail from Sheung Shui to University Station. It has a total length of about 900 meters. Cycling enthusiasts can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Plover Cove Reservoir. Water fountains, restrooms, covered seats and bicycle parking facilities are provided at the end of the cycling track.

Tseung Kwan O Cross Bay Bridge Cycling Tour. The cross-bay bridge with a total length of about 4.8 kilometers leads from Loh Seng Industrial Zone to Tiu Keng Leng. It is more convenient and direct than before. From the Tseung Kwan O South Promenade, you can enjoy the sea view. You can see famous houses from the Metropark Bay on the other side. You can also see the south coast of O.

From now on, after all bicycles are manually locked, users must press the checkout function in the program. This will end the calculation of charges. Otherwise, users need to bear extra charges.
